FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q1. Where are the auctions held?
A. 47 Transport Avenue, Netley.

Q2. Are Administration facilities and auctions located at the same place?
A. Yes; they are both located at 47 Transport Avenue Netley.

Q3. Do you sell the vehicles as they are listed in the advertisement?
A. No; we auction as per the lot numbers in the catalogue.

Q4. Are there vehicles other than those listed in the advertisement?
A. No. Generally, all vehicles are listed in our advertisement.

Q5. How often are the auctions held?
A. Every Wednesday at 10 am.

Q6. When is the next week's catalogue available?
A. The Friday morning before the next auction.

Q7. Can you tell me when you will have (a certain type of vehicle) for auction?
A. No. Unfortunately we don't know what we will have for the coming auction. We receive vehicles on a daily basis until Friday.

Q8. How long do the auctions take?
A. We auction approximately 50 to 55 vehicles per hour.

Q9. Is there a reserve price on vehicle, and what is it?
A. Yes; there are reserve prices, but we don't disclose them. We can give you an idea of what particular vehicles have sold for at recent auctions.

Q10. Do I need to register to bid and can I do it today?
A. No. Simply collect a bidder's number from the Customer Service person at the gate or the red box at the back of the building on auction day.

Q11. Is it possible to arrange an independent inspection, including a road-test of the vehicle?
A. No. Vehicles may not be road-tested or moved from the premises.

Q12. How about previous paint and panel repairs? Where and how extensive are they?
A. We are not advised of any details of previous accidents, only the information provided in the vehicle assessment report.

Q13. Do the vehicles have a warranty?
A. Purchases at auction do not carry a warranty. However, the manufacturer's warranty may be valid and will transfer to the new owner (usually 3 years or 100,000 km)

Q14. Do you have EFTPOS facilities for payment?
A. No; the deposit is by cash only, and the balance by cash or bank cheque only.

Q15. Who do I make the cheque payable to?
A. Government Auctions SA.

Q16. Can I put in an absentee bid or a telephone bid?
A. No. We cannot accept absentee or telephone bids.

Q17. Can we register vehicles?
A. Registration facilities are on site during the auction and for one hour after the auction.

Q18. We come from interstate. Can we arrange a permit to drive our vehicle interstate?
A. Yes. Registration personnel can assist you with a permit.

Q19. How can we pay for registration and other fees?
A. Payment is by cheque and EFTPOS only.

Q20. How much will registration, stamp duty, number plates and transfer and administration fees add to the cost of the vehicle?
A. Check the Department of Transport website or information area.

Q21. How do I attach the number plates?
A. A staff member will fix the number plates to the vehicle when you collect it.

Q22. Do police vehicles have the special computer chip?
A. SA Police vehicles do not have a special computer chip.

Q23. Can I sell my private vehicle at your auction?
A. No. Only Government-funded organisations can sell their vehicles through Government Auctions SA.

Q24. Why is there a blank area on the homepage?
A. The bottom left section of the homepage contains an animation. To view the animation, you'll need to install Macromedia Flash Player 8. This is very easy to do. When you view the home page, you should be prompted to install the player, if you are not this probably means your security settings are preventing you from seeing the prompt. If you are using Internet Explorer you can change your security settings by selecting Tools >> Internet Options. Select the security tab, and click Default Level and click OK. Open a new browser window and you should now see the prompt to download Macromedia Flash Player 8 from Macromedia, Inc. Follow the prompts to download the player and you should now be able to see the animation.

Q25. Can I bid at the auction online (via the web)?
A. YES! You do not have to come to the auction to place bids. You can place bids online during the auction. You will need to register before the auction commences, and you may want to consider trying a practice run using the demo before the real auction. This will enable you to check your computer and internet connection before the real auction starts. For more information click Bid Online in the menu.

Q26. Does a Buyers Premium apply?
A. Yes. A buyer's premium will apply to each lot sold. The Buyers Premium will Include GST and will be applied to the sale price at the fall of the hammer. The buyer's premium shall be expressed as a set amount and shall be applied inclusive to the sale of the vehicle.
